The simulator was highly modular, allowing for fast and easy re-configuration. So, it consisted of a varying number of joysticks, a central control display, a monitor-based visual system and two primary flight displays. The visual system was based on SGI hardware, whereas all other items were based on Linux.

According to the first research results, the simulator was upgraded to a "Flight Deck Demonstrator" with a new, Linux-based, visual system and some further components.

The Engineering Simulator has been operated successfully for over 3 years until the insolvency of our customer CargoLifter.
