The 3D Enhanced Display (3DED) was a research project conducted in co-operation with the Technical University of Munich and several partner companies. It was partially funded by the state of Bavaria. Its goal was the development of a navigation and display system for general aviation which could provide the pilot with 3D enhanced data for navigation and guidance.

The system consists of the following components:

Modular Avionics System including
- sensor package
- PC main computer
- Multi-Function Display
CANbus network
Real-time Software and Communication
Computer-generated Terrain with
- Real-time Terrain Triangulation
- Real-time Database Paging
- 3D Objects
Navigation and Guidance Overlays
