Road Designer ROD^®

ROD is our interactive designer for track-based databases as they are typical for road and railroad applications. These databases usually require a high level of accuracy within the track's vicinity and use a simplified environment in the farther distant areas.

ROD can be configured individually for these applications. A database can be composed of a library of track elements (so-called "tiles") or it can be designed from scratch, hence allowing to resemble geo-specific tracks with high accuracy.

ROD provides an interface for the definition of the track logics concurrently to the mere graphics data. By this, the consistency between graphics an logics can be guaranteed.

ROD generates its graphics data in a standard 3D graphics file format. The output parameters (number of LODs, tesselation etc.) can be configured according to the target image generator. This configuration is independent of the database definition itself.

ROD is the first tool capable of writing the new OpenDRIVE^® file format for road networks. It is also highly customized in terms of the logics descriptions and exports several customer-specific formats of logical network descriptions for road and railroad applications.
